Bilawal Reaches IG House to Express Solidarity With Sindh Police

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Inspector General (IG) House to express solidarity with Sindh Police.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called on senior officers of Sindh Police while Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah also accompanied him.

Bilawal said in his tweet that he stood by the Sindh police and expressed solidarity.

He used the hashtag #WeStandWithSindhPolice and asked the public for their opinion.

Note that top officials of Sindh Police are applying for and after IG, Additional IGs and DIGs, District Police Officers of Sindh have also decided to go on leave.

Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from different areas have applied for leave.

Apart from Karachi, SSPs of other areas of Sindh including Hyderabad have also gone on one month leave. Among those going on leave are SSPs of Shikarpur, Ghotki, Larkana, Kashmore and Jacobabad.

SSP Tharparkar Hassan Sardar Niazi, SSP Shahdad Kot Imran Qureshi, SSP Hyderabad Adeel Chandio, SSP Sukkur Irfan Simmons are also among those who have applied for leave.

It may be recalled that PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz had said on Twitter on Monday morning that the police broke down the door of the hotel room in Karachi where they were staying and Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar arrested.

Police have registered a case against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 others for allegedly violating the sanctity of shrine of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The case was registered against PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 other unidentified persons under Sections 6, 8 and 10 of the Quaid-e-Azam Shrine Protection and Maintenance Ordinance 1971 and Section 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

In the FIR, the plaintiff had claimed that Capt. (R) Safdar and his 200 accomplices had violated the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid, desecrated the grave, made death threats and vandalized government property.

However, on Monday, Judicial Magistrate Eastern Minister Hussain Memon had granted bail to Capt (retd) Safdar on a bond of Rs 100,000.

It may be recalled that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other leaders had reached Karachi on October 18 to attend a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of opposition parties.

Before attending the rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah, the leaders and workers attended Mazar-e-Quaid and offered Fateha. Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N leaders remained silent but Captain (R) started chanting slogans and the mob also reacted emotionally.

This situation continued for a few moments after which Maryam Nawaz and others left the premises.
