COVID-19 rate crosses 3% after 70 days, says Asad Umar

Federal Minister for planning, Asad Umar said that Pakistan saw its Covid -19 positivity rate crossing the 3% threshold after a gap of 70 days.

In a recent tweet, Umar wrote,  “After more than 70 days the national COVID  positivity ratio was higher than 3% yesterday”.

He added that the NCOC has tightened restrictions on some high-risk public activities but the rising spread of the disease can only be controlled if people believe in the need for precautions.

Coronavirus cases in Pakistan

Pakistan has reported 908 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, the highest number of new infections since July. Over 24, 449 tests have been conducted so far. Whereas, 16 new deaths have also been reported.
