Narowal Sports Complex Case: Ahsan Iqbal likely to be indicted on Dec 7

Ahsan Iqbal, of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), is likely to be indicted by Islamabad Accountability Court in Narowal Sports Complex Case on December 7^th.

According to the details, the accountability court in Islamabad conducted a hearing of the Narowal Sports City Complex reference. All the accused including PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal appeared in the court.

The accountability court judge asked the accused to provide copies of the reference to set the date of the indictment. After which the court decided to charge Ahsan Iqbal in the next hearing.

NAB filed a corruption reference against Ahsan Iqbal in the accountability court, according to which, Ahsan Iqbal misused his powers in the Narowal Sports City project.

According to the NAB reference, Ahsan Iqbal spent the federal government’s funds on the provincial project. In the reference, former DG Sports Board Akhtar Nawaz Ganjira is also named as the accused.

Talking to the media after the hearing, Ahsan Iqbal said that he had reappeared today in connection with the Narowal Sports City trial and these are the retaliatory actions due to development works till 2018. He said that the person who contributed to this development is being imprisoned today and Pakistan is being ridiculed all over the world.

Ahsan Iqbal said that baseless allegations were made against us. He continued that if building a world-class stadium is a crime then he will continue to commit it again in the future.

According to the NAB, Ahsan Iqbal, as the planning minister, misused his powers and illegally increased the cost of the Narowal Sports project. The cost of the Rs 35 million project reached Rs 100 million and no permission was sought from the Central Development Working Party to increase the cost.
