Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan on Thursday said that in view of the current global security state of affairs and the evolving situation of air warfare, the enhanced military partnership between Pakistan and China is a matter of urgency.

According to the details, Pakistan-China Joint Air Exercise “Shaheen-IX” that aimed at achieving the mastery to meet challenges of modern warfare with full capacity, concluded today. Pakistan’s Air Chief attended the concluding phase as the Chief Guest. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Nong Rong also attended the closing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan said that Shaheen XI exercises will go a long way towards enhancing the professional skills and operational preparedness of the air forces of Pakistan and China and will also help in developing their mutual understanding of each other’s combat skills and interoperability. The air chief also commended the Chinese military aviation technology and said it is on a par with contemporary requirements.

On the other hand, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan said that the cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces is a matter of urgency to maintain peace and stability in the region and to meet common challenges.

During the air exercises, the two air forces achieved several successes and shared goals in the military field, the Ambassador added.

Shaheen-IX

Shaheen-IX is the ninth in the series of joint exercises between the PAF and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) which started in 2011 and are held in Pakistan and China on an alternate basis.

The contingent of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), comprising combat pilots, air defence controllers, and technical ground crew participated in the exercise, according to a statement issued by the country’s air force.

The opening ceremony of the exercise was jointly witnessed by Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal Waqas Ahmed Sulehri and Assistant Chief of Staff, PLAAF Major General Sun Hong, it said.

Shaheen IX that commenced on the 9th of this month concluded today.
