The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that the Senate Elections 2021 will be held on March 3rd. The polling will start from 9 am in morning and will be continued till 5 pm.

According to the details, ECP while announcing the schedule said that the candidate Nomination forms to be submitted on 12, 13 Feb 2021    .

This will be followed by the scrutiny of the candidates. The scrutiny process will be conducted from   February 15 to 16.

Moreover, the date for disposal of appeals is February 20 and the revised list of the contestants will be issued later on February 21 while the candidates can use option of withdrawal of candidature till February 22.

Note that the ECP has established Digital Facilitation Centers at its central secretariat and provincial offices for scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates for the Senate elections.

According to an official of ECP, with the support of online technology their documents will be examined in coordination with all relevant departments.

Breakdown of Seats

52 of the 104 Senators will be retiring on 7 February 2021. After the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, FATA seats were abolished and there will be no election on 4 of the 8 seats. The rest of the 4 seats will also not be renewed in 2024. So Technically elections will be held on 48 seats.
