Pakistan has recorded 63 deaths due to the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours taking the national fatality toll to 11,746.

According to the latest statistics by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 1,220 more people got infected in the past 24 hours surging the tally of confirmed cases to 547,648.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,285 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 1,881 patients are still in critical condition.

The total count of active cases is 33,365 and the positivity ratio is recorded at 3.14 per cent.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar also announced that the corona vaccination campaign will begin today in the presence of the Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He added that the national corona vaccination campaign will begin tomorrow in all provincial capitals. The vaccine will be given to frontline health workers first.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plane with first batch of Coronavirus Vaccine vials has landed on Monday. PAF plane Ilyushin Il-78MP Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) landed at Noor Khan Airbase with 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from China.

The vaccine would be preserved in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) cold storage from where it will be transported to the provinces.
