Pakistan Telecommunications Authority shuts down TikTok nationwide after Peshawar High Court banned the app, while the Peshawar High Court has barred PEMRA from taking action against BOL News, but PEMRA is constantly violating court orders.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has complied with court orders and shut down the TikTok app across the country on the same day, but on the other hand, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) arbitrarily violates the orders of the Peshawar High Court.
It may be recalled that the Peshawar High Court on August 26, 2020, restrained PEMRA from taking any action against BOL News.
The court issued clear orders on September 16 not to take action against BOL News but PEMRA first stopped the broadcast of BOL News on December 4, 2020, and then on January 22, 2021, ignoring the court orders.
During the same period, BOL News was also fined under various pretexts. Thus, under the federal government, this institution, PEMRA, is committing contempt of court as a whole and is openly flouting court orders.
