Pakistan Condemns Houthi Attacks On Saudi Arabia: MOFA

Pakistan Foreign Office has strongly condemned the recent attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to the press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan condemns Houthi attacks in particular the Houthi projectile that injured five civilians in a border village in the Jazan region.

These attacks not only violate the territorial integrity of the Kingdom but also threaten the lives of innocent people. Pakistan calls for their immediate cessation, as it stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan also calls on the Houthi militia to halt its attacks on the Ma’arib governorate in Yemen. We reiterate our call for a comprehensive political solution to the conflict in Yemen through peaceful means.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia has raised the issue of activities of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia operating in Yemen at the United Nations, stressing the need to hold the Houthi militia accountable under international law.

Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Abdallah Y. al-Mouallimi told the Security Council on Thursday that Houthi rebels were continuing to commit war crimes against the kingdom.

He said Houthi rebels were violating international law by launching attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Houthi attacks are a clear violation of Security Council resolutions and international law.

In his letter, the Saudi ambassador also briefed the Security Council on the Houthi terrorist attack on Abha airport. He clarified that the attack on the airport by the Houthi rebels was tantamount to endangering the lives of innocent civilians and committing war crimes.

He stressed the need to hold Houthi terrorists accountable under international law.

Abdallah Y. al-Mouallimi said that Saudi Arabia has the right to defend the borders of its people and kingdom and the sovereignty of the homeland and will do whatever is necessary for it. He said the Houthis had made a cowardly attempt to attack unarmed civilians by attacking Abha airport.

The Saudi ambassador said attacks by Houthi militias were undermining efforts by the United Nations and the international community to find a political solution to the Yemeni conflict. Houthi actions are also undermining regional and global peace.
