Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plea against the victory of PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gillani has been rejected by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) member Yousaf Raza Gillani earlier won the Senate election with 169 votes, beating PTI’s Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
PTI had challenged the decision in IHC. However, PTI’s petition has been rejected. Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Mianhallah asked the petitioner Ali Nawaz why he is dragging the court into politics. CJ Mianhallah remarked, “Your party has moved ECP over the matter, let the body decide about the plea and later you can contact the IHC.”
He added that that political matters should be solved in the parliament.
