United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) chief Munir Akram has called for increasing the production of vaccines to defeat the contagious coronavirus pandemic that has caused the economic and social crisis.

He was addressing the ECOSOC’s Special Ministerial meeting on the topic “A vaccine for all” at the United Nations.

During the talks, Pakistan Permanent Representative UN said that coronavirus is the most severe health and economic crisis, the world has faced in the century.

Akram added that we need to find ways to support the weak health systems and infrastructure of the developing countries.

Above all, Akram said that we also need to remove obstacles such as export restrictions and vaccine nationalism.

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) was earlier informed that the Chinese single-dose ‘CanSino’ vaccine will be made available to the public in the country from April 5.

The NCOC meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Chairman NCOC Asad Umar and National Coordinator NCOC Lt Gen Hamood Uz Zaman Khan.
