Lawyer infected with COVID-19 appears before CJP court

A Coronavirus (COVID-19)  positive lawyer caused a stir when he appeared before the bench of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Friday.

Khalid Mehmood, a lawyer who was diagnosed with the infection few days ago appeared in the court and revealed that ‘ ‘despite being infected with the virus I have come to the court for hearing.’

The revelation from the lawyer troubled the whole courtroom. CJP Gulzar Ahmed said “You should have not appeared before the court in this condition and risking other lives.”

Later, the infected lawyer was asked to leave the courtroom immediately and the courtroom, rostrum and files were disinfected with sprays.

Pakistan Coronavirus Situation

On the other hand, Pakistan recorded 110 deaths related to the novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours, taking the national death tally to 15,982.

According to the statistics of National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) 5,364 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. With the inclusion of fresh infections the national toll of confirmed cases jumped to 745,182.
