The Federal Home Department has issued orders for the deployment of Rangers on the day of by-polls in NA-249 in Karachi.
According to the Home Ministry order, Rangers will be deployed outside all polling stations in NA-249 from April 28 to 30.
The request for deployment of Rangers in the constituency was made by the Election Commission.
According to the order, Rangers are deployed to ensure peaceful polling in the by-elections.
During the deployment, Rangers will be in touch with the Election Commission and Sindh Home Department.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail has lauded the ANP’s move to withdraw its candidate in favour of him in the by-elections of the National Assembly constituency 249.
Addressing a campaign rally in NA-249, he said, “We hope that with this favour, we will win this election.”
He said that Nawaz Sharif served the people and I will serve NA-249 following his legacy.
Miftah Ismail further said that he was grateful to the ANP on behalf of the PML-N whose candidates withdrew from the seat in our favour.
Responding to a question regarding the bitter rhetoric during the election campaign in the constituency, he said that the incident took place a month ago, in which a worker of a political party called Nawaz Sharif a thief and I lost my temper. And insulted him which was my mistake but if someone calls Nawaz Sharif a thief, then he will definitely get an answer.
It should be noted that Faisal Vawda of PTI had won the general elections from Karachi to National Assembly constituency 249 in 2018 by defeating PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif by a mere 718 votes.
However, he resigned from the National Assembly this month after being elected as a senator.
The Election Commission has also released the polling schedule of the NA-249 constituency, according to which by-polls will be held in the constituency on April 29.
