IG Islamabad called the abduction of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter a ‘self-created drama’ and said after reviewing scenes from 700 CCTV cameras it has been established that the Ambassador daughter was not abducted.

According to the details, IG Islamabad has said that Police scrutinized 300 CCTV cams in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and viewed 700+ hrs recording, interviewed 220 people including drivers to track the travel route of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter who took 4 taxis.

Police are close to solving the case but require access to more info from Ambassador, he added.

Earlier, National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf said on Monday that Pakistan is being a target of hybrid warfare.

Flanked by the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jameelur Rehman, the NSA made these remarks during a press briefing on the alleged abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter.

The statement comes hours after the Pegasus project revealed Prime Minister Imran Khan was targeted by the Indian government using Israeli spyware.

Citing the EU DisinfoLab information that exposed an Indian network of fake websites and media outlets doing propaganda against Islamabad, Yusuf said New Delhi was building an anti-Pakistan narrative.

He further said that the abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter was also part of a similar campaign.

“This is part of an orchestrated campaign of which various fronts have been opened against Pakistan,” he said, adding that some social media accounts which were involved in propaganda regarding Balochistan or Kashmir were also propagating the alleged abduction.

“Some of these accounts were operated from inside Pakistan, while the rest were controlled from Afghanistan, India and the West,” he apprised the media persons.

He reiterated that ‘spoilers’ were trying to create a divide between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding that this narrative reflected that Pakistan was being made a ‘scapegoat’ in Afghanistan.
