LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Monday approached the Lahore High Court against his suspension.

The police officer has named the federal government, the secretary of the Establishment Division, and the Punjab government as the respondents in the case.

The petition said that the federal government issued a notification on October 27 to vacate the post within three days without giving any reason.

Dogar alleged that the federal government was targeting him over the registration of terrorism cases against two federal ministers in Lahore’s Green Town Police Station.

He maintained that Punjab chief minister has the authority to appoint or remove the CCPO, adding that the provincial government has asked him to continue working.

He has also contended the federal government has interfered with provincial autonomy by issuing the suspension order. Dogar said he was suspended from the post on November 5 for not responding to the notification.

He pleaded that the notification for suspension and transfer of federal government should be declared illegal and cancelled. He urged the court to issue a stay order till a final decision is made.

It must be mentioned that CCPO Lahore was suspended two days ago on November 5. The Grade 21 police officer was issued by the establishment division and was issued three notice before suspension.

On October 28, the federal government had ordered CCPO Lahore to report to the establishment division within three days. However, Punjab refused to transfer his services to the federal government and instructed CCPO Lahore to continue working.

Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi wanted Dogar to continue to ensure security arrangements during PTI’s ongoing long march

On November 5 the federal government suspended the officer once again this time over his alleged “failure” to protect the Governor House where a protest was held. The establishment division issued a notification to suspend police officer.
