ISLAMABAD: The meeting between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistan has been postponed till the third week of November.
Sources said meetings that were scheduled to take place on November 03 have now been postponed till the third week of November. The meeting will be held after the imposition of sales tax on petroleum products by the Pakistan government.
Couple of weeks ago, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lauded policies taken by Pakistan and assured its continued support to the country.
The acknowledgment came during a meeting between IMF Deputy Managing Director Ms Antoinette Sayeh and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Washington.
During the meeting, the finance minister apprised the IMF Deputy Managing Director of the damages caused by unprecedented rains and subsequent floods in Pakistan.
He also shared the government’s vision for stabilising the economy and carrying out sustainable and resilient recovery.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has requested the International Monetary Fund(IMF) to review the strict conditions that have been set for Pakistan as country is going through difficult time after flood .
