Benazir Bhutto martyrdom anniversary: Bilawal arrives in Larkana

LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has finalized arrangements to observe the 15th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on December 27.

PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari issued a video message and said that he has reached Larkana and they will observe the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto tomorrow.

Bilawal said he will remember Benazir Bhutto in his address and will also speak about foreign policy, economic issues and terrorism.

He invited party supporters to come to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and pay homage to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her 15th martyrdom anniversary.

He said they have received guidance from Benazir Bhutto’s extraordinary struggle against dictatorship and extremism. He said she taught us to serve the people and strive not for the privileged few but for all.

“We draw inspiration from her heroic struggle against dictatorship and extremism. She taught us to serve the people, to strive for a Pakistan for all not just privileged few,” he added.

Meanwhile, the PPP has made all arrangements to observe the 15th martyrdom anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto with utmost devotion and respect

The party has set up reception camps in Larkana to welcome party activists coming from different parts of the country to Garhi Khuda Bux and placed party flags, banners and hoardings on the highway.

The meeting was attended by SP Special Branch Munir Ahmad Khuhro, SSP Kamber-Shahdadkot Captain (Retd) Saddam Hussain, SSP Shikarpur Capt (Retd) Faizan Ali, SSP Khairpur Ruhal Khoso, ASP Shikarpur Fazil Bukhari, ASP Larkana City Atiqur Rehman Mekan, and other officers.

Addressing the meeting, the SSP said that the foolproof security and traffic arrangements had been completed by the police as 8,140 police officers and jawans would perform their duties.

Besides, it was apprised that the help of Sindh Rangers would also be taken in this regard. SSP Larkana briefed the police officers regarding the formation of various checkpoints, alternate routes and parking routes.

He said that police patrolling has been increased by establishing checkpoints on the pathways coming from Larkana district and Naudero city.

He also said that a strict checking of the participants coming in the rally had been ensured through modern machines, walk-through gates and watch towers.

SSP Lakana said that the police would provide foolproof security to the participants. He further said that Naudero city and mausoleum would be monitored through CCTV cameras and other modern tools.

It must be mentioned here that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007, soon after addressing an election rally at the Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi.
