RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed five terrorists during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Jhallar Algad, North Waziristan district, the media wing of armed forces reported.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said during the conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists. “Troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, 5 terrorists got killed. Weapon and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists,” the ISPR said.
It said the killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens.
However, during intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Nasir Khan, 25, resident of South Waziristan district, having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat (martyrdom), the public relations department said.
“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area,” the media wing said.
On November 23, former chief of army staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had paid tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces and assured their families that Pakistan Army would never leave them alone.
The army chief was addressing the Defence and Martyrs’ Day ceremony at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The ceremony was postponed in September in solidarity with flood victims. The ceremony was attended by serving and retired military officials at the GHQ.
General Bajwa had apologised for the delay in the Defence and Martyrs’ Day ceremony due to the floods. He had reaffirmed the military’s resolve to remain in its constitutional domain and stay away from interfering in political affairs.
