MULTAN: Former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday termed the Governor Punjab’s step as an attack on democracy, constitution, and law.

Talking to media in Multan, Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi said an elected chief minister and cabinet have de-notified through an illegal and unconstitutional way. He said unfortunately there is no rule of law in the country and only might is right policy exists.

He regretted how Chief Secretary Punjab has implemented illegal and unconstitutional step of Governor Punjab. He said PTI is expecting such an unconstitutional step from the federal government thus party will stage a protest outside the Governor House in Lahore.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the government should focus on the national economy. He said traders, industrialists, and farmers seemed upset over the country’s poor economic situation.

The former foreign minister said terrorist activities are increasing once again and even federal capital is not saved from terrorism.

Vice-Chairman PTI said Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should be in Afghanistan in this crisis time but Bilawal has no time to visit Kabul.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi hoped that Lahore high court will take this case to its logical conclusion.

Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the case of denotification of CM Punjab announced by Governor Baligh ur Rehman and sought assurance that assemblies will not be dissolved, only then the court will review the petition.

A hearing has been underway in the LHC on the petition of PML-Q against the denotification of CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi. A new bench has been hearing the case as Justice Farooq Haider refused to be part of the bench.
