KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator, Senior Director of Karachi Zoo, and others against alleged corruption cases in awarding contracts.
Justice Adnan Chaudhary heard the petition against the corruption of more than 40 million in awarding contracts in Karachi Zoo.
The petitioner Kareem Ali has stated that the contract advertisement was published on June 6, 2022. On which the petitioner gave the highest bid of Rs 0.8 million to collect the admission fee.
He further stated security money was also deposited through the bank for getting the contract, but despite fulfilling all the regulations, the contract approval letter was not issued.
The petitioner said the contract was awarded illegally to the other party.
The petitioner added that the illegal contract holders have not yet deposited any money in the zoo, besides, food and other facilities are not being provided to the animals due to the financial crisis.
He pleaded to the court to order KMC to issue an immediate contract approval letter and sought a response from the administrator of KMC and others.
The court extended the stay order against issuing the contract.
Earlier, Saif ur Rehman has been announced as the new Administrator for the port city and a notification in this regard will be released shortly.
Dr. Saif ur Rehman presently serves as the principal secretary to the Governor of Sindh. He had served as the Municipal Commissioner KMC, DC Karachi-Central and Secretary Health Balochistan.
