KARACHI: A female Ph.D. student of the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, has won the 2nd prize at the online 3rd Commonwealth Chemistry Posters event held in September 2022, conducted by the Commonwealth Chemistry, Federation of Chemical Sciences Societies, UK.

The Spokesman of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) – University of Karachi, said, “Humira Karim is pursuing her Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen at the H.E.J. Research Institute.”

The UK-based organizers of the international competition received over 180 posters from 31 countries during the 3rd Commonwealth Chemistry Posters event, the spokesman said. However, Humira Karim has been awarded a poster prize in the theme of Biodiversity and Natural Products for a poster titled “Design and Synthesis of Dendrimeric Analogs of Anticancer Peptides,” he added. The prize also includes the award of £500.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of ICCBS, and COMSTECH Coordinator General, congratulated the Ph.D. student on her well-deserved success, and said that this was a recognition of young talent of Pakistan, and the ICCBS is proud to have a pool of such talented young scholars.

Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi and Prof. Atta-ur Rahman, ICCBS Patron-in-chief and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, also congratulated the student for her achievement.
