KARACHI: The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) has recovered the hostage who was ‘honey-trapped’ and kidnapped in Saeedabad area of Sindh.

The law enforcement agency conduct an operation and recovered the resident of Karachi from a house in Saeedabad. The recovered citizen was missing since January 7 and a case of abduction was registered at the Saeedabad police station.

During the operation, police also arrested a woman who ‘honey-trapped’ the victim after befriending him online. Police officials are continuing the search for the accomplices who kidnapped the young man.

Police officials said the woman used to befriend people over a phone call and invite them over to her house. When the victim arrived, the woman along with her accomplices used to kidnap them and demand ransom, police added.

Police said the recovered hostage was also kidnapped when he went to meet her in Saeedabad. Police said the suspects were demanding a hefty ransom of Rs15 million from the hostage’s family.

There are been numerous incidents in which unsuspecting young men have been honey-trapped and kidnapped in various parts of the country.

Sindh Police launched a warning campaign to protect citizens from being scammed and kidnapped by criminal groups using honey trapping methods.

In Kashmore and Gothki, bandits posing as women on voice calls ahve lured men into meeting them and then kidnapping them for ransom.

Sindh Police department has placed banners on the provincial borders and launched a public service announcement in public buses advising people to avoid such friendships on phone or social media platforms such as Facebook to protect themselves from potential scams or abductions.

Punjab police also started a campaign to protect citizens from honey trap. The police successfully saved at least 60 individuals who have been fallen prey to such methods.
