LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued show-cause notices to two members of Punjab Assembly absent during Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s vote of confidence.
The party issuing show-cause notices to MPAs – Momina Waheed and Faisal Farooq Cheema – who were absent during the vote of confidence in the Punjab Assembly.
The two lawmakers has been asked to appear in person before the party chairman Imran Khan The notice issued by the party said that they deviated from the clear policy of PTI, despite clear instructions. It added that they may face action under Article 63 (A).
Chief Minister Elahi proved his majority in the provincial assembly after receiving the vote of confidence amid ruckus and opposition’s boycott in late-night assembly session.
The ruling coalition showed its majority in the provincial legislature with the support of 186 lawmakers – the minimum number of votes required to win the trust vote.

According to reports, Khurram Laghari, Momina Waheed, Faisal Cheema, Dost Mazari and Chaudhry Masood were absent from the assembly.
The party will sent a reference of disqualification against all five members of the Punjab Assembly to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
PTI MPA Momina Waheed has claimed that around eight MPAs were displeased with the party’s top leadership and will not vote in favour of CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi.
She denied having any contact with Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders. She also claimed that around 20 PTI MPAs will not support the chief minister.
While denying any allegations of horse-trading, Waheeed said she render her resignation when asked by party chairman Imran Khan.
