LAHORE: The federal government has approved the appointment of Dr Usman Anwar as Inspector General of Police in Punjab, Bol News reported
The federal cabinet approved the appointment of IG Punjab through a circulation summary. The notification of placement will be issued by the Establishment Division.
The Punjab caretaker government sent the summary of appointing Dr Usman Anwar as the Inspector General Police (IGP) in the province.
Anwar has been serving as additional IG Motorways while he also served as Additional IG Special Branch. He replaces Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan who was appointed less than a month ago.
Meanwhile, Additional IGP Bilal Siddique Kamyana has been posted as Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore. He has served in the post before as well after being appointed in April 2022.
He has replaced Ghulam Mahmood Dogar who has also been removed as convener of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to investigate the attack on PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana a Grade 20 officer who belongs to 24th Command of Police Services, said a spokesperson for Lahore police.
He has performed the duties of RPO, CPO and DPO in various districts.. He has been posted as RPO Faisalabad, RPO Sheikhupura, and CPO Rawalpindi.
Before the recent appointment, Bilal Siddique was holding an important position in Intelligence Bureau. He has also served as DIG R&D and DIG Special Protection Unit.
