Sheikh Rashid sent on two-day physical remand

ISLAMABAD:A local court in Islamabad on Thursday approved a two-day physical remand of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in a case registered against him for levelling allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Earlier, a local court in Islamabad reserved the verdict on the police’s petition seeking physical remand of former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in a case registered against him for levelling allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Shaikh Rashid , who is a close aide of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, was arrested from Murree Motorway, police confirmed this morning, in a move that drew strong criticism from the former premier.

The verdict will be announced shortly.

At the outset of the hearing at Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir’s court, the police requested for an eight-day physical remand of Rashid.

Meanwhile, the investigation officer submitted the case records in the court.

Earlier, Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was arrested from his residence in the wee hours of Thursday, reported BOL News.

The arrest has been done for leveling allegations against PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari that he has been plotting the assassination of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
