LAHORE: A plea has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar for allegedly speaking ill of judiciary.
The petition has been filed by Advocate Rana Shahid saying that Azam Nazeer Tarar in a TV programme spoke against senior judges. The PML-N leader termed the suo moto notice taken by the Supreme Court regarding elections an adventure, he added.
“Azam Tarar said the nation will pay the price. It clearly indicates that it is anti-judiciary narrative. The judges are legally and constitutionally bound to stick to their opinion,” he said.
The plea said political statement on judges’ legal opinion amounted to scandalizing the judiciary. The federal minister should be summoned by the court over anti-judiciary remarks, the plea maintained.
It asked the court to begin contempt of court procedure against the federal minister.
