ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman have decided to contest the upcoming general elections on separate platforms.

According to the details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PDM chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman held an important meeting.

In this regard, the sources said that during the meeting, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was also contacted and a detailed discussion was held on the current political situation of the country.

According to the sources, in the meeting, court proceedings and cases against Imran Khan were also discussed and it was also agreed to continue political pressure on the PTI chief.

PML-N sources said that in the meeting it was decided to fight the upcoming general elections on a separate platform, but PDM will remain intact and it will not be made into an electoral alliance.
Sources say that it was agreed in the meeting that JUI-F and PML-N will cooperate wherever necessary.

According to the sources, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman while talking in the meeting said that all the parties included in PDM are free to contest elections separately.

During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif and Fazal ur Rehman insisted on the reduction in inflation, while Maulana Fazal ur Rehman said that people must be given relief before going to the polls.

It should be noted that yesterday, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the residence of the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, where the Prime Minister inquired about the well-being of Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, prayed for his speedy recovery and expressed his best wishes for him.
