LAHORE: A day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Lahore, Section 144 has been lifted in the city, BOL News reported on Thursday.

Pertinently, a ban was imposed in the city moments before PTI was kicking off its election rally in Lahore and the party workers and leaders were batons charged by the Punjab police.

Police owing to the situation retorted to tear gas and water cannons to disperse the public.

The PTI challenged the move in the LHC, blaming the provincial authorities for obstructing the election campaign despite the announcement of the date.

During the hearing, advocate general Punjab informed the court that the government has lifted the ban.

“Yesterday was a sensitive day, so the implementation of Section 144 was the right step.”

Later, the petition filed by PTI was disposed of by the court.

On the other hand, a PTI worker was allegedly killed from violence and brutality by Punjab Police during the party’s attempt to take out the rally.

Ali Bilal was present at the rally near Mall Road when police resorted to baton-charge and fired tear gas shells at the party workers.
