ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Khan, a member of PTI’s legal team, was on Saturday elected unopposed chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Bol News reported.

Another PTI leader Omar Ayub has been elected general secretary of the former ruling party. The announcement was made post PTI intra-party elections.

Talking to media in Peshawar, PTI Inter-Party Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi apprised that all the candidates were elected unopposed. He said Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was elected Chairman of the PTI.

He said Omar Ayub Khan was elected Central Secretary General of the party and Ali Amin Gandapur president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Niazullah Niazi said Munir Ahmed Baloch was elected president of PTI Balochistan, Haleem Adil Sheikh of PTI Sindh, and Yasmin Rashid of PTI Punjab.

On November 29, Gohar Khan was nominated by Imran Khan for top party position before the intra-party elections.

Taking to media in Islamabad Barrister Ali Zafar had revealed the decision, describing it as a temporary arrangement until Khan could resume his role in the party after potential reinstatement following the disqualification related to the £190 million Al Qadir Trust graft case.

“There is no concept of PTI without Imran Khan,” Zafar had said talking to reporters, while accompanied by Gohar.
