Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui on Monday met her incarcerated Pakistani neuroscientist sister Aafia Siddiqui at a prison hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
The meeting between the two sisters lasted for 44 minutes in which Senator Talha Mahmood and Aafia Siddiqui’s lawyer were also present.
Dr. Fauzia had intended to meet Dr. Aafia on both December 2nd and 3rd. However, despite having permission, she faced an unexpected hurdle on December 2 at the high-security federal prison in Dales Fort Worth, Texas.
Dr. Fauzia waited outside the jail for four hours, only to learn later that the ward keys were misplaced within the facility. Reliable American sources, however, denied this claim.
The Dallas prison, known for its high-security measures, was the venue where Dr. Fauzia finally met her sister, Dr. Aafia.
Despite obtaining permission from authorities in Washington DC, the official confirmation for the meeting was delayed due to the long weekend holiday in the US.
The meeting took place behind a glass wall, and the jail authorities did not grant Dr. Fauzia’s request to meet and embrace her sister without hindrance.
It is to be noted that Fauzia Siddiqui met her sister in May, earlier this year, for the first time after 20 years of imprisonment in US.
