MQM expected to secure three ministries in federal cabinet

Islamabad: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan is likely to be given three ministries in the federal cabinet in the first phase.

MQM Pakistan may be given the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ports and Shipping and Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis in the first phase.

Moreover, MQM sources say that the discussion on MQM’s demands and other issues in connection with government formation will be held today, in which other issues will also be considered.

Added to that, MQM will discuss the implementation of three amendments in the constitution and assurance of time frame while the governorship in Sindh will also be discussed in the meeting.

The sources claim that today’s meeting is important and it is hoped that a conclusion will be reached.

Earlier, PML-N and PPP have reached a consensus for forming the federal government. As per their agreement, Shahbaz Sharif will be the prime minister and Asif Ali Zardari will be President of Pakistan.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference addressed by Shahbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari and central leadership of the both parties at Zardari House, here on late Tuesday night.

Shahbaz said that both the parties have agreed on a ‘power-sharing formula, adding that they have required number of seats in the National Assembly to form the government.
