PESHAWAR: At least six people, including four Customs officials, were killed on Thursday in a shooting incident in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, as confirmed by the police.

Law enforcement authorities reported that unidentified attackers targeted the Customs officials along Sago Road in Daraban tehsil within the district.

In this attack, a driver, a civilian, and four Customs personnel lost their lives due to the gunfire, according to police sources.

The assailants, concealed in bushes, ambushed the Customs vehicle and swiftly fled on motorcycles without encountering any resistance.

The driver of the Customs vehicle, affected by the assault, lost control and collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of a civilian.

Rescue ambulances transported the victims’ bodies to the district headquarters hospital (DHQ).

In response to the incident, the police and other law enforcement units secured the crime scene and gathered forensic evidence.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the Customs officials and the innocent bystander.

He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed police authorities to take prompt action to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
