In collaboration with the district administration, the Federal Ministry of Education is initiating a groundbreaking project: the deployment of 20 distinctively pink buses to offer complimentary transportation services to female students and educators throughout Islamabad.
These eye-catching pink buses, exclusively dedicated to serving the transportation needs of women and girls, will operate on routes covering both rural and urban areas of the capital city.
This endeavor aims to alleviate the longstanding challenge of insufficient transportation facilities, particularly for female members of the community.
The Education Secretary emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting its roots in the commitment to ensuring equal access to education for all.
Currently, a significant portion—30 percent—of Islamabad’s total bus fleet of 385 vehicles remains inactive due to various obstacles such as financial constraints, staff shortages, and maintenance issues.
To swiftly overcome these barriers, the ministry has pledged to revitalize and put into operation the dormant buses by June 15.
Once operational, these buses will play a crucial role in offering complimentary transportation services to female students and educators, marking a significant step forward in promoting educational accessibility and empowerment in the capital city.
