Sarwat Gilani Criticized For Wearing Cross Locket

Pakistani celebrities have been greatly influenced by western culture as they have adopted their fashion trends.

Every now and then, people are bashing celebrities for wearing bold and steamy dresses. This time, Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani came under hot water but not for her attire but for her fashion accessory.

Sarwat Gilani is a famous Pakistani celebrity who has been a part of many super-hit projects including Mata-e-Jaan, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, and many more. She was earlier criticized for her web series “Churails”.

Sarwat recently attended the ongoing Fashion Week Pakistan wearing a velvet coat paired with a silk suit. To complete the look, the actress wore a “Christian Cross” pendant, which hurt the sentiments of many.

The Christian cross, seen as a representation of the instrument of the crucifixion of Jesus and represents Christianity.

Many of the social media users started to bash the Churails and called her a disgrace to Islam. One of the netizens wrote,

“Why wear a cross if u don’t believe in it… that’s disrespecting towards those who do. It’s same as someone who doesn’t believe in Islam wearing an Allah necklace.”

Another one wrote,

“I don’t think so I will ever see a Christian or Hindu celebrity wearing a necklace with Allah Pendant but of course, she has to do it. I have NEVER bashed a celebrity for wearing western clothes because it doesn’t affect me…honestly, I wouldn’t even care if she would have posted a bikini picture, I still would have said something wrong BUT messing with something clearly representing a religion is not appropriate when you don’t practice it…imagine Muslims doing pooja……it just doesn’t make sense.”
