Butler to Princess Diana wants Prince Harry and William to be aware of all ‘confidential secrets’
Princess Diana's former butler has admitted that he wants Prince William. This...
Princess Diana insisted on having her “revenge dress” created in white because she did not believe it would look better in black.
The former Princess of Wales made a historic appearance on the same night King Charles III admitted to cheating on his then-wife with Queen Consort Camilla.
Claudia Joseph, author of Diana: A Life in Clothes, revealed Us Weekly what actually happened behind the scenes when the mother-of-two chose the outfit she wore at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994.
“The story behind her wearing the ‘Revenge Dress’ is quite interesting,” she said. “She’d gone into Christina Stambolian dress shop with her brother Charlie Spencer, and he sat there while she tried on clothes.”
She stated that Diana wanted the stunning off-the-shoulder gown “in white,” but the designer maintained that the ensemble would look better in black, which did not appeal to the late Princess.
“She was [groaning] about it, but Christina insisted, ‘This looks fabulous on you,’” Claudia shared, adding that Diana decided to go with the designer’s opinion and ordered the dress in black.
Nevertheless, on the day of the Serpentine Gallery event, it was revealed that Diana would be wearing a Valentino gown, which infuriated her, and she ended up choosing the black gown at the advice of her butler.
“She got quite angry about that, so she went into her closet and her butler suggested she wear the [Stambolian], and it of course got dubbed the ‘Revenge Dress,” Claudia said.
