Zafar’s mother recently appeared on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast where she talked about problems encountered by her own family. She also answered a question regarding the effects Meesha-Ali case had on her family.

Dr Kanwal Ameen said that “she was an activist for women’s rights way before it was considered cool and she always tried to inculcate those values in her children. The tweet by Meesha was indeed shocking for her and the whole family suffered a lot. She said that she could not understand how she would go teach her students at the university the next day. She applauded Ali for being strong through it all and she was proud of her daughter-in-law who remained a rock throughout this. She shared that they also had to shield Ali’s children from this mess.”

She added that “laws against harassment are of utmost importance but people in Pakistan probably still do not know how to use them.”
