Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has received bomb threats to his house that left him shocked.

Cheshire police have dispatched sniffing dogs to Maguire’s property, where he lives with his fiancee Fern Hawkins and their two daughters.

The disturbing warning came in the form of an email, stating that a bomb would be planted at United manager Jose Mourinho’s home.

A spokesman for Maguire said: “In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home.

“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter. The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority.

“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”

Manchester United is on a bad run of form, having lost 4-0 to rivals Liverpool on Tuesday.

Erik ten Hag has been named as the club’s new permanent manager, with the Ajax coach taking charge in the summer.

On a regular basis, death threats are sent to Maguire and the rest of the United team on social media, but the context of this recent threat has been taken very seriously.

Maguire has been the target of many fans’ ire because he is the club captain and has had a terrible run of form.

Maguire and his family are said to have been taken aback by the news.
