Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is expected to miss the two-match Test series against the West Indies due to injury.
The 27-year-old fast sustained a shoulder injury in the first Test of the South Africa series, ruling him out of the Port Elizabeth Test and the rest of the series against Sri Lanka.
Taskin will need four to six weeks of rehabilitation to recuperate from his injuries, according to BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury, which will begin on May 20 or 22.
“For the next four weeks, we’ll go with conservative management and see what happens,” Chowdhury said.
“We don’t know if he’ll be out for the entire season.”
“We can’t say whether he’ll be ruled out a month before the series. Because the crew is leaving in the first week of June, we may consider including him in the shorter versions.”
Bangladesh will visit the West Indies on June 6 for a trip that will include two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and three Twenty20 Internationals.
The first Test will be held in Antigua from June 16-20, followed by the second Test in St Lucia from June 24-28, according to the preliminary schedule.
Taskin just returned from a shoulder evaluation in London.
“I believe it is too early to predict when I will be available because everything depends on my progress, but I am anxious to play again as soon as possible,” he stated.
T20Is will kick off the white-ball portion of the series against the West Indies, with the first two matches taking place in Dominica on July 2 and 3, and the third in Guyana on July 7.
On July 10, 13, and 16, Guyana will host three One-Day Internationals.
