Ashwin of India has tested positive for Covid-19 and has yet to fly to England for the forthcoming Edgbaston Test. Which is slated to take place from July 1 to 5.

He is now quarantined and will only join the squad after all protocol criteria have been met. On June 16, the remainder of the Indian squad travelled for England.

“Ashwin hasn’t travelled with the squad to UK as he has tested positive for Covid-19 before departure,” a BCCI source told PTI. “But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1. However he might miss the practice game against Leicestershire.”

The remainder of the squad has already arrived in Leicester and has begun working with bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

The Ireland-bound side, led by VVS Laxman, will depart for Dublin on either June 23 or 24, after a three-day vacation. India will play two Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland in Dublin on June 26 and 28.

After ending the T20I series against South Africa, Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer arrived in London and will now go to Leicester on Tuesday.
