Colin de Grandhomme has been ruled from out England’s second and third Tests versus New Zealand due to an injury. On the third day at Lord’s, Colin de Grandhomme was injured.

On the third day of the first Test at Lord’s, de Grandhomme pulled up a little short in his run-up with a ball left in the fourth over and immediately left the field. After scans, his right plantar fascia, the ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes, was discovered to be torn.

de Grandhomme injury will hold him out for 10 to 12 weeks, ensuring he will miss New Zealand’s white-ball tours to Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands, and the Test series.

In the first Test, de Grandhomme balanced the team at No. 7, top-scoring with 42 not over in the first innings before dismissing Joe Root. On the third day, however, he was run out first ball, bowled Ben Stokes with the front no-ball, and then went off injured.

Michael Bracewell, an offspinning allrounder, has indeed been added to New Zealand’s squad for the rest of the series. Bracewell was at Lord’s as a replacement for Henry Nicholls, whom can return from a calf injury in the second Test, which starts on Friday at Trent Bridge.

“It’s a great shame Colin has to go out with the this injury so early in the series,” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said. “He’s a big part of our Test team, and we’ll miss him a lot.” It’s wonderful to be able to call in Michael, who has been with the squad for a month and is match ready.”

New Zealand will fly to Nottingham on Tuesday for the second Test, then training on Wednesday and Thursday.
