Rhian Brewster and Oli McBurnie, two football players for Sheffield United, have been charged with simple assault.

It has to do with an incident that happened at the conclusion of the second leg of the Championship Playoff Semifinal versus Nottingham Forest last month.

After Nottingham Forest won their semi-final match in a thrilling penalty shootout last month, thousands of supporters flooded onto the field.

Sheffield United FC expressed its “disappointment” at the strikers’ charges in a statement on the club’s website.

Both players ‘strenuously deny’ the allegations, the club added.

In order to better protect players and employees at their place of employment, Sheffield United stated that they are worried about such incidents and that football manager Paul Heckingbottom is “continuing discussions with key stakeholders.”

In response to several pitch invasions that occurred last month, including one involving Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira, he has sent letters to the League Managers’ Association, the Professional Footballers’ Association, the EFL, and the FA.
