Babar Azam selected for captain of ICC ODI Team of Year award

• Babar Azam has eight scores of greater than fifty in nine matches he played in 2022.
• Pakistan were unbeatable in one-day internationals.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s standout batsman, has been selected captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2022.

Azam, 28, has eight scores of greater than fifty in the nine matches he played in 2022.

“Pakistan skipper Babar Azam once again demonstrated his skill in the 50-over format, demonstrating why he has ruled the roost at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings since July 2021,” claimed the ICC in a press statement.

“Babar had a spectacular year as Pakistan’s ODI captain, winning three series out of three. Pakistan were unbeatable in one-day internationals, losing only one match (against Australia) out of nine. Because of his leadership abilities, he is the captain of the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2022 “It went on to say.

It should be mentioned that Azam captained the ICC ODI Team of the Year in 2021.

The starting XI also includes Adam Zampa and Travis Head of Australia, Shai Hope and Alzarri Joseph of the West Indies, Shreyas Iyer and Mohammad Siraj of India, Tom Latham and Trent Boult of New Zealand, Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh.
