Babar Azam, Pakistan’s standout batsman, has been selected captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2022.
Azam, 28, has eight scores of greater than fifty in the nine matches he played in 2022.
“Pakistan skipper Babar Azam once again demonstrated his skill in the 50-over format, demonstrating why he has ruled the roost at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings since July 2021,” claimed the ICC in a press statement.
“Babar had a spectacular year as Pakistan’s ODI captain, winning three series out of three. Pakistan were unbeatable in one-day internationals, losing only one match (against Australia) out of nine. It should be mentioned that Azam captained the ICC ODI Team of the Year in 2021.
