Mohammad Rizwan’s debut in the Bangladesh Premier League this season was a failure to impress on a large scale (BPL).

Rizwan, who travelled in a chopper from Dhaka Chattogram on Saturday to play for Comilla Victorians against Fortune Barishal, only managed to make 18 off 11 balls. He got two perfect shots.

Victorians had a goal of 178 runs to chase, but they fell short of it. Khushdil Shah, a fellow countryman of Rizwan, made a 43-run innings but his effort was in vain. Victorians could only respond to the target with a score of 165-7.

Rizwan was included in Pakistan’s playing XI for the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand on Friday, it should be mentioned. As soon as the game in Karachi ended, he left for the airport.

The Pakistani player arrived an hour or so before the game and was added to the starting lineup.

The ODI series against New Zealand continued to feature the wicket-keeper batter as the leading scorer. In three games, he amassed 182 runs at an average of 91. In the series, the right-handed batsman also hit two hundreds.

On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi backed out of the tournament despite being invited to join the Victorians. In front of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he will continue his recovery there. In this year’s PSL, Shaheen will captain the reigning champion Lahore Qalandars.

In the T20 World Cup 2022 championship game, the 22-year-old cricketer suffered an injury. He was removed from the field after hurting his knee while catching a pass from Shadab Khan.

Shaheen has not participated in competitive cricket since and has been closely monitored by the medical staff of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
