The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant thanked everyone for their support and well wishes on Monday, stating that his road to recovery has started and he is prepared for the difficulties that lie ahead. Pant suffered serious injuries in a car accident on December 30.

In a series of tweets, Pant also said that his surgery was a success. “I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the @BCCI, @JayShah & government authorities for their incredible support.”

“From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to seeing you all on the field,” he wrote.

Pant, 25, unexpectedly survived after his car hit with a road divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on December 30 at 5:30 am. In the Uttarakhand state’s Haridwar district, between Manglaur and Narsan, a horrifying automobile accident occurred.

Prior to being sent to Max Hospital in Dehradun, Pant was initially brought to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Center. He was travelling alone in his Mercedes automobile from New Delhi to his birthplace of Roorkee.

“I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. Just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery was successful, and I am grateful to be on the road to recovery. My spirits are high, and I’m feeling better every day and I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for your kind words, support and positive energy during this difficult time,” he further wrote in an Instagram post.

After the collision on December 30, the BCCI provided the first medical update. It stated that in addition to a right knee ligament tear, Pant also had two wounds on his forehead, injuries to his right wrist, ankle, and toe, and abrasions to his back.

An evening later, a medical bulletin said that Pant’s brain and spine MRI test findings were normal. Pant also underwent plastic surgery, it was stated, to treat his facial wounds, lacerations, and abrasions.

On January 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Pant would be flown to Mumbai for surgery and additional care. At the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri West, Mumbai, Pant is now directly under the care of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service and head of the Centre for Sports Medicine.
