Shubman Gill, India’s opener, scored an undefeated 126 runs to lead India to a decisive 168-run victory over New Zealand in the T20 international series finale on Wednesday.

At Ahmedabad’s largest cricket stadium, India decided to bat first, and Gill guided the side to 234-4, scoring his first T20 century for India.

Indian bowlers defeated the New Zealanders for a pitiful 66 in 12.1 overs to win the series 2-1. In three one-day games, the hosts completely destroyed the New Zealanders.

The enormous win was the biggest one for India in T20 international matches as well as the largest margin of runs in a match between two Test-playing nations.

During the ODI series, he had also destroyed the New Zealand bowlers with a double hundred and a tonne.

At the 132,000-seater Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill put up 103 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Hardik Pandya, who scored 30 before taking four wickets with his fast bowling.

Ishan Kishan was bowled out for one by off-spinner Michael Bracewell in the second over of the innings.

With a barrage of boundaries, including three in one over off Blair Tickner, Gill, 23, came back. Rahul Tripathi joined the attack after scoring 44 runs, and the two combined for 80 runs.

Tripathi hit three sixes, including one off Ish Sodhi’s leg-spin, but he then holed out on the following ball when making another try to get past the ropes.

Suryakumar Yadav provided Gill with another attacking partner as the two continued their onslaught. Yadav scored 24 off 13 balls, making him just the fifth Indian batsman to score century in all three forms.

With Bracewell making a nimble catch at mid-on, Tickner ended Suryakumar’s stay.

However, the irrepressible Gill switched up his strategy and raised his tonne off 54 balls with a boundary as he removed his helmet and let out a shout.

The massive chase by New Zealand got off to a terrible start when Arshdeep Singh struck twice in the second over of the innings, causing them to lose their top four for just seven runs in three overs.

In response to pace bowling from Pandya, Suryakumar made two outstanding catches at first slip to dismiss Glenn Phillips for two and Finn Allen for three.

Take off quickly Before Daryl Mitchell, who scored 35 runs, and captain Mitchell Santner tried to make a stand, Umran Malik bowled Bracewell.

Each of Shivam Mavi, Umran, and Arshdeep claimed two wickets.

India will now play Australia in the eagerly awaited four-test series, which will begin on February 9 in Nagpur.
