Pakistani skipper Babar Azam shed light on the importance of the toss as the Men in Green gear up for the most anticipated match of the ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan vs. India, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on October 14 (tomorrow).

The 28-year-old skipper mentioned that dew will play a major role as the match will undergo tomorrow.

“Considering all the matches that have taken place so far, toss has been vital. Under the lights, the pitch behaves really well. There was dew as well last night. We will also ask the umpires about whether they will spray the outfield for dew,” Azam said during a press conference on Friday.

Babar is also confident that the men in Green can outperform India.

“We have defeated India in the past and we are confident about doing it again,” he said. “I don’t think future of captaincy depends on winning or losing against India. I have not been given captaincy just for this match.”

Babar has not performed well in the last two matches as he accumulated only 15 runs. However, he is optimistic about his form during the match.

“I was not able to perform in accordance with expectations, so far, in the World Cup but I’m hopeful that there will be improvement in my performance against India,” he said.

He is also hopeful of getting some support from the fans in the stadium.

“We got support in Hyderabad and are hopeful that the crowd will back us in Ahmedabad as well. However, it would have been better for us if Pakistan fans were allowed to travel to India,” he said.

Both teams are in top form as they won both of their first two matches of the World Cup.

Pakistan is currently standing at fourth while India is standing at third position.
