On Monday, SK hynix, a South Korean semiconductor company, began construction on a non-volatile memory manufacturing facility in Dalian City, northeast China.

A new wafer factory will be built as part of the project to create non-volatile 3D NAND chip memory products.

At the end of 2021, SK hynix completed the first part of its acquisition of Intel’s NAND and solid-state drive (SSD) businesses, taking over Intel’s SSD business as well as the Dalian NAND flash production plant.

This is an important initiative, according to the municipal administration of Dalian, Liaoning Province, to continue to boost investment in Dalian following the successful purchase. Dalian will be encouraged to develop a new generation of information technology industrial clusters.
