Mercedes-Benz gave a glimpse into the future of its all-electric future today. The Vision AMG is a sports electric vehicle that will be marketed under Mercedes-high-performance Benz’s brand AMG.

The low-slung four-door coupe features a long wheelbase, silver paint, and teal highlights, and is designed to look like the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team’s Formula 1 vehicles.

The side windows and rear glass of the Vision AMG have been painted the same silver as the body of the car, which is very stunning. Drivers will be able to view the road due to the hexagonal layout of the design.

The Vision will be AMG’s first sports electric vehicle, joining the EQE and EQS as the company’s existing all-electric vehicles.

Aside from that, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the Vision AMG, since the carmaker didn’t share any performance figures in the news announcement.

The Vision AMG will be equipped with an Axial Flux Motor by YASA, which has teamed with Mercedes to produce electric motors that are more compact and lightweight than typical electric motors for their EV portfolio.

The company also didn’t provide any pricing information, although the production version is expected to arrive in 2025. Mercedes-Benz increased its first EV investment to $63.6 billion in December, with plans to spend it between 2022 and 2026.

The manufacturer has announced a collaboration with Sila Nanotechnologies, a battery materials business, to develop a more energy-dense silicon-anode battery for EVS. Silicon-anode batteries, according to the business, have 20 to 40 percent greater capacity than the typical lithium-ion batteries used in most modern electric vehicles.

Mercedes wants to debut the Vision AMG as one of three specialised EV platforms in 2025, alongside the MB.EA platform for medium and large cars and the Van.EA platform for light commercial vehicles.

By 2030, the company plans to transition to an all-electric portfolio. Mercedes-AMG also published a promotional movie for the Vision AMG, which you can watch here (with absolutely no technical data).
