ISLAMABAD – From the beginning of December 2022, Pakistani users will no longer be able to use Google Play Store services because the State Bank of Pakistan has stopped the direct carrier billing (DCB) mechanism.
The News, citing sources, said that the country’s central bank had taken away the direct carrier billing (DCB) system.
This means that customers who want to pay with bank cards will have to download Google and other international apps.
It also says that a lot of mobile users won’t be able to download apps from the Google Play Store because some customers won’t be able to use their credit cards.
According to the report, the Telecom Ministry, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and cell phone service providers went to the State Bank of Pakistan to ask them to undo the change, which will make things harder for users.
In the letter, officials said that not paying for these digital services would cause problems for Pakistan in the digital age and should be avoided at all costs.
Top tech companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, and others are being hurt by non-payment, and it is likely that they will stop offering their services, the report said, which will make it hard for users to get what they need from platforms.
