WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has been offering new features and making the service easier to use for its customers.

According to WaBetaInfo, the instant chat app is working on a block shortcut update right within the notification bar. It previously disclosed the ability to block contacts directly from the chat list. This time, the software has provided users with a shortcut.

The new function will allow users to block someone when they receive an SMS notice on their phones.

“WhatsApp intends to implement a block shortcut within notifications, but not always: the block shortcut will be displayed only when you get a message from unknown and untrusted contacts,” the app tracking website stated.

The capability is limited to untrusted contacts since users may unintentionally press on the block option when reacting to someone via notifications, blocking their trustworthy contacts.

The new capability will be offered to users in a future app update.

Media with caption

Earlier this week, the tracking app announced that WhatsApp is releasing a new version that would notify users of the possibility to forward media with a caption.

According to the app tracking website, the function would allow users to send any sort of media – photographs, videos, GIFs, and documents — to others while maintaining the description.

“The notice appears when an image, video, GIF, or document with a caption is forwarded,” the company explained.

Furthermore, WhatsApp wishes to make its users aware of the new capability by allowing them to delete the caption from the media during the forwarding process.

Those who instal the most recent app update will get access to the feature.
