WhatsApp is set to transform user profiles by introducing a new cover photo feature, giving users more freedom to personalise their accounts.
WhatsApp is currently developing a feature that will allow users to add a wide cover photo to their profiles, making accounts more visually engaging and personal.
According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging platform is testing this feature, which will appear at the top of user profiles. Users can manage their cover photo through the app’s settings, with options to update, reposition, or remove it at any time without affecting their profile picture or other account details.
To give users full control, WhatsApp is also introducing privacy settings for cover photos. Similar to existing controls for Last Seen, Profile Photo, and About, users will be able to decide who can view their cover image.
The feature is still under development and is expected to roll out to iOS users in future updates.
In addition, WhatsApp is improving username privacy. Under the new system, users will no longer be easily discoverable through global search. Instead, anyone wishing to send a message or make a call will need a unique code linked to the username, adding an extra layer of security.
